Barrientos Island (English; in Chile Isla Barrientos , in Argentina Islote Turner ) is an island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the group of the Aitcho Islands in the English Strait , it is located northwest of Cecilia Island , 3.5 km north-northwest of Canto Point of Livingston Island and 1 km northeast of Dee Island .
Scientists of the 3rd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1948–1949) named it. The further naming background has not been passed down. The same applies to the Argentine name. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee converted the Chilean name into English in 2004.
