The Canto Point (in the UK as Spark Point is known) is a headland on the east coast of Greenwich Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It marks the northwest side of the entrance to Discovery Bay . At its northeastern branch it is towered over by the Mogotes Aguilera . The headland is the location of the Ecuadorian Pedro Vicente Maldonado station .

Participants of the 1st Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1946–1947) carried out a survey and named it Punta Capitán Del Canto . This name is named after Raúl Del Canto, engineer on the ship Iquique during this research voyage. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1965 in an abbreviated form. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee, on the other hand, named the headland on August 31, 1962 after the Spark , a British schooner that operated for seal hunting in the waters around the South Shetland Islands from 1820 to 1821.
