Erk Sens-Gorius

Erk Sens-Gorius (born January 25, 1946 in Hanover ) is a former German fencer who became Olympic champion with the foil .

Career

In 1969 and 1971 , Erk Sens-Gorius was second in the German championship in foil fencing. He participated in the fencing world championship in 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1975. At the 1972 Olympic Games he was part of the German team, which was eliminated in the quarter-finals and ultimately finished fifth.

At the beginning of the 1976 season, Erk Sens-Gorius moved to the Tauberbischofsheim fencing club under coach Emil Beck . With his victory in the tournament for the Lion of Bonn he qualified as the last foil fencer for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. The team, which apart from Klaus Reichert from OFC Bonn only included fencers from FC Tauberbischofsheim, won Olympic gold against the Italian team. For this win he received - together with the German foil Olympic team - the silver laurel leaf.
