Yuri Fyodorovich Sissikin

Yuri Fjodorowitsch Sissikin ( Russian Юрий Фёдорович Сисикин , born May 15, 1937 in Saratov ) is a former Soviet fencer. Alongside Mark Midler and German Sweschnikow, Sissikin was the only Soviet foil fencer who was involved in all eight team gold medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships from 1959 to 1966.

Sissikin belonged to the Saratov University Sports Club Burevestnik. Sissikin won his first international medal at the fencing world championships in 1958 when he won the silver medal with the Soviet team. A year later, the 1959 World Fencing Championships began the winning streak of the Soviet team, which lasted until the 1966 World Fencing Championships and also included Olympic gold medals in Rome in 1960 and Tokyo in 1964 . Sissikin achieved his greatest success in the individual classification in Rome in 1960, when only his teammate Viktor Zhdanovich achieved more victories in the final round and Sissikin received the silver medal. Sissikin received his second Olympic silver medal with the team in Mexico City in 1968 .
