Giorgio Avola
Giorgio Avola (born May 8, 1989 in Modica ) is an Italian foil fencer and Olympic champion .

Giorgio Avola won the 2009 Junior World Championships in Belfast with the Italian foil team and the team achieved bronze with him at the European Junior Championships in Amsterdam . In 2010 he was European team champion in Leipzig . In 2011 he became both individual European and team European champions in Sheffield and won bronze in the foil singles at the World Championships in Catania behind his teammates Andrea Cassarà and Valerio Aspromonte . In 2012 he became team European champion for the third time in Legnano , and at the Olympic Games in London the foil team with the same line-up received the gold medal. In 2013 he was again team world champion in Budapest , in 2014 he won silver with the team at the European Championships in Strasbourg and bronze at the World Championships in Kazan .
