Ugo Pignotti (born November 19, 1908 in Florence , † January 7, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian fencer .
successes
Ugo Pignotti was world champion with the foil team three times in a row in 1929 in Naples , 1930 in Liège and 1931 in Vienna . In Vienna in 1931 he also secured silver with the Saber team. In the singles Pignotti won bronze in Budapest in 1926 . He took part in two Olympic Games : at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam , he was Olympic champion with the foil team . Together with Giorgio Chiavacci , Giulio Gaudini , Gioacchino Guaragna , Giorgio Pessina and Oreste Puliti , he remained undefeated throughout the tournament. He finished the individual competition in seventh place. Four years later he moved into the finals again with the Italian foil team, which Italy initially finished in first place, tied with France and the United States . In the jump-off, Italy won against the Americans, who, like the Italians, lost to the French, giving Pignotti silver. He secured another silver medal as a member of the saber team, which came second behind Hungary . He was multiple Italian champion with the foil.
