Lionel Plumenail (born January 22, 1967 in Bordeaux ) is a former French foil fencer . He is an Olympic champion and was world and European champion.
successes
Lionel Plumenail was world champion with the team in Cape Town in 1997 and in Seoul in 1999 . He also achieved second place with her in 1998 in La Chaux-de-Fonds . His best result in the individual was 1997 with bronze. At the European Championships in 1996 in Limoges he won the individual title. Plumenail took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 1996 he reached the final in the individual competition in Atlanta , where he was defeated by Alessandro Puccini with 12:15. Four years later he moved into the finals in Sydney with the team after victories against Cuba and Poland . There the French team defeated China with 45:44 and became Olympic champion .
