Arkadiusz Godel

Arkadiusz Godel (born February 4, 1952 in Lublin ) is a former Polish foil fencer . Godel is the only fencer who was part of the Polish team at both the 1972 Olympic gold medal and the 1978 world championship.

Arkadiusz Godel was part of the Polish team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Godel was only used in the preliminary round battle against Germany. The Polish team with Marek Dąbrowski , Jerzy Kaczmarek , Lech Koziejowski , Witold Woyda and Arkadiusz Godel fought through to the final and won the gold medal there against the Soviet team. A year later, the Polish team won the bronze medal at the 1973 World Cup in the line-up of Marek Dąbrowski, Witold Woyda, Leszek Martewicz , Lech Koziejowski and Arkadiusz Godel.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Godel finished fifth with the Polish team. Two years later at the World Championships in Hamburg in 1978 , the Polish team with Bogusław Zych , Adam Robak , Arkadiusz Godel, Marian Sypniewski and Leszek Martewicz won the title with a final victory over France.
