Bogusław Zych (born December 10, 1951 in Warsaw , † April 3, 1995 in Naprawa ) was a Polish fencer .

Life

Bogusław Zych became world champion with the foil team in Hamburg in 1978 and won bronze in the individual competition of the European Championships in Vienna in 1991 with the foil . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow he reached the semi-finals with the Polish foil team, in which they had to admit defeat to the Soviet Union 7: 9. Together with Lech Koziejowski , Adam Robak and Marian Sypniewski , he received the bronze medal after a subsequent 9-5 win against the GDR team. He finished the individual competition in 13th place. In 1988 he finished 15th in the singles in Seoul , while he was fifth with the foil team. With the epee team, he placed tenth. At national level he was Polish individual champion in 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1989, and six times with the team between 1982 and 1989.

Zych was a graduate of the Warsaw State Aviation School and later a non-commissioned officer in the Polish Army . After his active career, he also worked as a coach, including with the national team. He died on April 3, 1995 in a car accident.
