Marian Sypniewski (born April 30, 1955 in Bydgoszcz ) is a former Polish fencer .

successes

Marian Sypniewski became world champion with the team in Hamburg in 1978 . In 1983 he won bronze in the individual competition in Vienna and also secured bronze with the team in 1993 in Essen . He took part in the Olympic Games three times : at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow he reached the semi-finals with the Polish foil team, in which they had to admit defeat to the Soviet Union 7: 9. Together with Lech Koziejowski , Adam Robak and Bogusław Zych , he received the bronze medal after a subsequent 9-5 win against the GDR team. With the saber team he just missed another medal win in fourth. In 1988 he finished 27th in the individual competition in Seoul , while he was fifth with the foil team. Four years later he was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the individual competition and finished sixth. As in 1980, Sypniewski reached the semi-finals with the foil team, which Cuba won 9: 7. The battle for third place against Hungary was won by the Polish team 9: 4, so that Sypniewski received another bronze medal together with Piotr Kiełpikowski , Adam Krzesiński , Cezary Siess and Ryszard Sobczak . At national level, he was Polish individual champion in 1982, 1986 and 1988, and six times with the team between 1982 and 1989.

After his active career he worked as an international referee for the world association.
