Ryszard Tadeusz Sobczak (born November 2, 1967 in Zgorzelec ) is a former Polish foil fencer .

successes

Ryszard Sobczak won with the team at the world championships , first in 1990 in Lyon silver and 1,993 in food and in 1995 in The Hague each bronze, before her 1998 in La Chaux-de-Fonds became world champion. In 1998 he was also vice European champion in the team competition in Plovdiv . He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in 1992 he reached the semi-finals in Barcelona with the team, which Cuba won 9: 7. The battle for third place against Hungary was won by the Polish team 9: 4, so Sobczak received the bronze medal together with Piotr Kiełpikowski , Adam Krzesiński , Cezary Siess and Marian Sypniewski . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he moved into the final with the Polish team after victories over Venezuela , Germany and Austria , in which they had to admit defeat to Russia with 40:45. Together with Piotr Kiełpikowski, Adam Krzesiński and Jarosław Rodzewicz , he received the silver medal. Sobczak finished the individual competition in 15th place. Four years later he finished 24th in the individual competition in Sydney , while he just missed another medal win with the team in fourth. At the national level he was Polish individual champion three times in a row in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

He is married to the Olympic fencer Anna Sobczak .
