European Fencing Championships 1998
The European Championships in fencing in 1998 took place in the Bulgarian Plovdiv instead. In addition to five individual competitions , team competitions were also held for the first time since 1991 . Since the third place in the individual was not fought out, both semi-finalists received a bronze medal. Germany was the most successful nation with seven medals.
