Iván Kovács (born February 8, 1970 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian sword fencer .

successes

Iván Kovács was world champion with the team in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1998 and in Nîmes in 2001 . He also won bronze with her in The Hague in 1995 and in Saint Petersburg in 2007 . In the individual he won bronze in Budapest in 1991 and in Essen in 1993 . At European championships he remained victorious with the team in Plovdiv in 1998 , in Izmir in 2006 and in Ghent in 2007 , in the individual competition he won the title in Vienna in 1991 and in Izmir in 2006. He was vice European champion in 1995 in Keszthely in the individual and in 2008 in Kiev with the team, he also won bronze in 2002 in Moscow in individual and 2005 in Zalaegerszeg in the team competition.

Kovács took part in the Olympic Games five times : in 1992 he finished the individual competition in Barcelona in eighth place, while he reached the final with the team. This she lost to Germany 4-8, so that Kovács received the silver medal together with Krisztián Kulcsár , Gábor Totola , Ferenc Hegedűs and Ernő Kolczonay .
