European Fencing Championships 2018

The 31st European Fencing Championships took place from June 16 to 21, 2018 in Novi Sad , Serbia . The venue was the SPENS sports and event complex . The most successful nation was Russia with eleven medals, including six gold medals.

mode

The program included competitions for women as well as men in the disciplines of épée, foil and saber. In each discipline an individual and a team competition was fought. In total there were 12 gold and 12 silver medals to be won. Third place is not fought out in the individual, but in the team. Therefore, due to the shared third place, there are 18 bronze medals.

Epee single

The individual competition in men's swords took place on June 17th. 104 fencers took part. The winner was last year's winner Yannick Borel (France) ahead of the Estonian Nikolai Novosjolov and the two third-placed Richard Schmidt (Germany) and Bohdan Nikischyn (Ukraine).

60 fencers took part in the saber singles. The winner was the German Max Hartung , who also won the title last year. Kamil Ibragimow (Russia) came in second, followed by third-placed Sandro Basadze (Georgia) and Dmitri Danilenko (Russia). The competition took place on June 18th.
