Richard Schmidt (born July 10, 1992 ) is a German sword fencer . He is a two-time German champion.
Life
The Tauberbischofsheimer 2011 Richard Schmidt completed his schooling at the Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium . Schmidt fought for the Tauberbischofsheim fencing club until July 31, 2016 . Since August 1st, 2016 he has been playing for the fencing club Offenbach .
At the fencing world championships 2017 in Leipzig , Schmidt, who started the competition as number 135 in the world rankings, surprisingly won the bronze medal. Almost a year after his bronze medal from Leipzig, Schmidt also took third place at the European Championships in Novi Sad .

Schmidt was able to achieve the following sporting successes, among others:

- 2012 gold with the Degen team
- 2014 and 2017 silver with the Degen team
- 2013 , 2015 and 2016 bronze with the Degen team

- 2014 silver with the men's epee team at the European Junior Championships in Tbilisi
- 2015 bronze in epee singles at the Junior European Championships in Vicenza
- 2018 bronze in epee singles at the European Championships in Novi Sad
World championships
- 2017 bronze in epee singles at the world championships in Leipzig
