Alina Iwaniwna Komashchuk ( Ukrainian Аліна Іванівна Комащук , in the English transliteration Alina Komashchuk ; born April 24, 1993 in Netischyn , Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian saber fencer . She became world champion in 2013 and is a silver medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with the women's team .

Alina Komashchuk started fencing in Netishyn in 2002 and studied sports pedagogy at the Ivan Ohijenko National University in Kamyanets-Podilskyi .

Sporting successes

Alina Komashchuk became world champion with the team in Budapest in 2013 .

At the European Fencing Championships 2015 in Montreux at the beginning of June she won bronze with the women's saber team, in the same month at the European Games 2015 in Baku she won the gold medal with the team and a month later at the 2015 World Fencing Championships in Moscow she won, also with the team , Silver.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics , she won the silver medal with the team (Komashchuk, Olena Krawazka , Olha Charlan , Olena Woronina ).

Honors

On June 3, 2015, she received the Ukrainian title of Honored Master of Sport and on October 4, 2016, the Ukrainian President awarded her the Order of Princess Olga 3rd Class for achieving high sports results at the 31st Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
