Monika Sozanska (born March 13, 1983 in Bolesławiec , Poland ) is a German sword fencer .

Life

Monika Sozanska's family emigrated from Poland to Weinstadt in 1994 . After moving to Schorndorf , she attended the commercial high school there. In 2003 she passed the Abitur and began studying art history at the University of Stuttgart . In 2005, she broke off this course and began studying media management and service management at the Heidenheim University of Cooperative Education.

Monika Sozanska began in 1994 with the epee fencing . She initially achieved regional successes, in the youth classes also national successes in Poland and Germany. In 2002 she won fifth place with the Polish junior national team at the Junior World Championships in Antalya.

From 2004 to 2013 Monika Sozanska started in the “Active” age group for the Heidenheimer Sportbund 1846 and trained in the fencing center Heidenheim, her trainer was her father Piotr Sozanski . From August 2013 to the end of 2016 she started for the fencing club Leipzig. She has been working for the fencing club Offenbach since 2017 .

She is a sports soldier ( NCO in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Mainz) and a member of the German senior national team. Your arm is on the right.

Monika Sozanska lives in Heidenheim and Schorndorf. She also works as a photo model .

successes

At the World Championships in Beijing in 2008, she reached third place in the team with Imke Duplitzer and Britta Heidemann . At the 2009 World Championships in Antalya, she also reached third place in the team decision. In 2010 she reached second place in the team competition with Imke Duplitzer, Britta Heidemann and Ricarda Multerer at the World Championships in Paris . In 2012 she took part in the London Summer Olympics and finished tenth and fifth with the team.
