SPENS
The SPENS ( Serbian - Cyrillic СПЕНС ) is a sports, event and business complex in the second largest Serbian city of Novi Sad . SPENS is the common name for the sports and business center "Vojvodina" ( Serbian Спортски и пословни центар Војводина Sportski i poslovni centar Vojvodina )
history
The acronym SPENS goes back to the occasion of its construction, the table tennis world championship 1981 ( Serbian Стонотениско Првенство Нови Сад Stonotenisko Prvenstvo Novi Sad ). The SPENS is located southeast of the city center. The complex includes numerous sports and event venues as well as conference rooms , of which the Great Hall ( Velika dvorana ) has the largest audience capacity with around 7,022 seats. Games of the preliminary and main round of the men's handball European championship 2012 were also played there.
In the adjoining ice rink ( Ledena dvorana ), which is the home arena of HK Vojvodina Novi Sad and HK Novi Sad , the tournaments of the U18 Junior World Championship of Division II B 2012 and the men's ice hockey world championship of the division took place II A 2009 as well as games of the IIHF Continental Cup .
The operator of the SPENS, the public company JP Sportski i poslovni centar “Vojvodina” is also the owner of the sports center Sajmište ( Serbian Спортски центар ,, Сајмиште ” Sportski center“ Sajmište ” ) in the west of the city. In addition to various sports fields, there is another hall for 1,500 spectators and another outdoor pool.
