Bjorn Huebner

Björn Hübner (born January 22, 1986 in Tauberbischofsheim ) is a German saber fencer . He is five times German champion .

Life

Hübner was German B youth champion in 1999 and German A youth champion in 2003. In 2003 and 2005 he won the German junior championships. In 2004 he became vice European champion in the individual standings and European champion with the team in Espinho. At the Junior World Championships in Linz in 2005 he won the bronze medal in the individual ranking and gold with the team.

Hübner's greatest success was the bronze medal in the individual ranking at the 2009 European Championships in Plovdiv. With the team he won bronze in 2010 and silver in 2011 . At the 2011 World Championships , he finished fourth with the team.

Hübner fought for the Tauberbischofsheim fencing club , with which he was German team champion in 2006 , 2009 and 2011 , in 2010 he won the individual title, and in 2011 again with the team.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Hübner took fifth place with the team made up of Max Hartung , Nicolas Limbach and Benedikt Wagner . With the saber team he won this medal again at the 2015 European Games .

After changing clubs to Future Fencing Werbach , Hübner won the silver medal in the saber singles at the German Fencing Championships in 2019 . In the same year he became European champion with the team in Düsseldorf .

He is a sports soldier ( sergeant major ) in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Mainz.
