Matyas Szabo (born August 19, 1991 in Brașov , Romania ) is a German saber fencer . He is world champion and five times German champion .

Life

Szabo is a sports soldier (rank of corporal ) in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Cologne. He is the son of Vilmoș Szabo and Reka Lazăr-Szabo .

successes

In 2008 Matyas Szabo won the German Championships with the team and achieved silver in the individual at the European Cadet Championships in Rovigo . In 2010 he won the Junior World Championships in Baku with the team, in 2011 he won the Junior World Championships at the Dead Sea both individually and with the team. In 2012 he won again at the German Championships with the team and won bronze with the team at the European Championships in Legnano . In 2013 he won the World Cup in Chicago in singles and for the third time at the German Championships with the team. In 2014 he won the German fencing championships both individually and with a team. At the 2014 European Championships in Strasbourg he won bronze together with Max Hartung , Benedikt Wagner and Richard Hübers . In Kazan , the team with Nicolas Limbach instead of Richard Hübers became world champions . In 2019, he became European champion with the team in Düsseldorf .
