Claude Netter (born October 23, 1924 in Paris , † June 13, 2007 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French foil fencer .

successes

Claude Netter was world champion in the team competition in 1951 in Stockholm , 1953 in Brussels and 1958 in Philadelphia and won three more silver medals in this between 1950 and 1957. In 1959 , the silver medal in Budapest was his only success. Netter took part in the Olympic Games three times : At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , he and the team reached the final round unbeaten, in which the French team also took first place without defeat, ahead of Italy and Hungary . Together with Jéhan Buhan , Jacques Lataste , Jacques Noël , Christian d'Oriola and Adrien Rommel , he became Olympic champion . In the same year he became French champion in foil singles. Four years later he finished fifth in Melbourne in the individual competition, while he moved into the final round in the team competition again. He finished this together with Bernard Baudoux , Roger Closset , René Coicaud , Jacques Lataste and Christian d'Oriola in silver behind Italy and ahead of Hungary. 1960 in Rome Netter finished fifth with the team.
