Udo Wagner (born November 2, 1963 in Bautzen ) is a former German fencer .

Life

Wagner initially worked for the SC Einheit Dresden . Under coach Peter Proske he won the only individual fencing medal for the GDR at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , for which he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he managed to win more medals with the German team. In 1992 the athlete , who is now starting for the Tauberbischofsheim Fecht Club , became the German individual champion with the foil . In the same year Wagner won gold at the Olympic Games in Barcelona with the all-German team. For this he received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993. In 1993 and 1996 Wagner was again German single champion with the foil.
