The Rupp Brau GmbH is a 1861 by Sebastian Rupp in Lauenau founded brewery . In addition to the brewery, the Rupp family has been running the Felsenkeller brewery with restaurant and beer garden in Lauenau since around 1870 .

history

In 1861 Sebastian Rupp from Eitensheim near Ingolstadt acquired the local brewery in Lauenau. As early as 1870, a summer restaurant with a bowling alley was operated above the brewery's new storage cellar (the so-called rock cellar ).

Around 1900, son Louis Rupp built the new brewery behind the hall of the Rupp summer inn. In the early 1920s, the local brewing rights of the former Lauenau brewery cooperative were completely transferred to the Rupp family. In 1937, Ludwig Rupp's business was expanded into the “Gasthaus Felsenkeller”, but operations had to be closed a short time later due to the Second World War .

In the post-war period , Ludwig Rupp began to rebuild the brewery in 1947. In 1952 the hall and the ancillary rooms were renovated and the brewery expanded. Among other things, a bottling line was procured, but it turned out to be not profitable for a company the size of the Rupp-Bräu brewery. In 1975 Jürgen Rupp took over the business from his father and in 1976 converted the brewery's former ice cellar for gastronomic use.

Rupp-Bräu GmbH was founded in 1983 and the brewery's new brewhouse was built in 1988 . In 1998 the hall of the Felsenkeller was converted into a restaurant. The design and furnishings were based on the old dining room from 1937, which has remained almost unchanged.

The master brewer Thomas Rupp has been the company's managing director since 2005 and is now the fifth generation to run the business. The brewery's beers are offered in siphons, 11 liter FreshKEGs and 30 or 50 liter keg barrels.
