Jonny Quest ( English. The Adventures of Jonny Quest ) is an American animated television series, produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios in 1964–65 and 1986–87. The sequel The New Adventures of Jonny Quest followed in 1996 . The series is about the boy Jonny, who accompanies his father on extraordinary adventures.
There is also a comic series with the characters from the television series.
Characters
- Jonny Quest is an eleven year old boy and son of Dr. Benton Quest. He owns a bulldog named Bandit .
- Dr. Benton C. Quest is the father of Jonny and one of the top three scientists in the world. His scientific and technical expertise spans many areas.
- Roger T. "Race" Bannon is a special agent, bodyguard and pilot for Intelligence One . The government is concerned that Jonny could fall into the wrong hands, which is why they are releasing Race to protect him. A martial arts expert, he was born in Wilmette, Illinois, to John and Sarah Bannon.
- Hadji is Dr. Quests adopted son. Like Jonny, he is eleven years old, but of Indian descent and from Calcutta, India. The circumstances that made him orphan were never explained in detail. However, in the second reprint of the series it was said that he was an Indian prince. He also has mystical abilities such as hypnosis and telekinesis. Mostly he wears a turban.
Production and publication
The series was produced by Hanna Barbera Studios from 1964 to 1965 . Directed by Joseph Barbera and William Hanna, Doug Wildey was involved in the design. The series aired on ABC from September 18, 1964 . A second season of 13 episodes was produced in 1986, directed by Oscar Dufau, Don Lusk, Ray Patterson and Rudy Zamora. The second season was broadcast for the first time on September 14, 1986 through syndication.
The first broadcast in Germany took place on December 30, 1995 on Sat.1 , with repeats on Junior . There are also translations into Japanese and Polish.

With Gold Key Comics 1964 Comic strip, which retold the first episode of the series was released. Comico publishing began in 1986 with the publication of a comic series, to which Doug Wildey contributed, among others . The author was William Messner-Loebs . The series reached 31 issues.
Games
In 1991 Hi-Tec Software released the game Jonny Quest in Doctor Zin's Underworld for the home computer systems Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64.
