Evars Klešniks (born May 18, 1980 in Aizkraukle , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian handball player .

Klešniks, who played for the German Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo and played for the Latvian national team, is mostly used in the right backcourt .

Career

Evars Klešniks played in his homeland for ASK Riga, with whom he became Latvian champions in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2003, the 1.99 m tall left-hander moved to the German Bundesliga for ThSV Eisenach . After relegation in 2004, he signed with TUSEM Essen , with which he won the EHF Cup in 2005. After Essen's forced relegation in 2009, he joined GWD Minden , with whom he was again relegated to the 2nd handball Bundesliga in 2010 . In 2012 he managed to rise again with GWD. In August 2013, the HSG Wetzlar signed him to replace Daniel Valo , who had a long-term rupture of the cruciate ligament . In 2018 he joined the league club LiT Tribe Germania . In January 2020, Klešniks moved to TBV Lemgo until the end of the season .

Klešniks played 70 international matches for the Latvian national team.
