Fencing World Championships 2004
The 52nd World Fencing Championships took place from June 10th to 13th, 2004 in New York . The United States hosted a World Fencing Championship for the third time after 1958 and 1989 . Since the Summer Olympics took place in Athens in the same year , only the two non-Olympic team competitions in women's florets and women's sabers were held.
The competitions were embedded in a World Cup event . Hunter College served as the venue . The finals took place in the dance hall of the historic Roosevelt Hotel . Athletes from 13 nations took part in the two tournaments.
