Ekaterina Vladimirovna Djachenko ( Russian Екатерина Владимировна Дьяченко ; born August 31, 1987 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian saber fencer and Olympic champion .
successes
At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , the 1.68 m tall Djachenko took 5th place with the Russian saber team along with Sofja Velikaya , Jelena Netschajewa , and Jekaterina Fedorkina . In the saber individual competition, the then 20-year-old took 9th place. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Dyachenko won the gold medal with the Russian saber team together with Sofja Velikaya , Julija Gavrilowa and Jana Jegorjan . In the saber individual competition, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals against her compatriot Jana Jegorjan and thus finished 5th.
At the World Championships in 2011 , 2012 and 2015 she won the gold medal with the Russian saber team.
At the European Championships in 2006 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 , Dyachenko won the gold medal with the Russian saber team.
In 2011 Dyachenko won the Russian championships in singles and in 2013 and 2015 with the team. Her brother Alexei Dyachenko was also an Olympic saber fencer.
