Alexei Andrejewitsch Jakimenko ( Russian Алексей Андреевич Якименко ; born October 31, 1983 in Barnaul ) is a Russian saber fencer .

successes

Alexei Jakimenko won bronze in the saber singles at the 2004 European Championships in Copenhagen . At the Olympic Games in Athens, he and the team won the bronze medal. In 2005 he won gold with the team and bronze in the individual at the world championships in Leipzig , in 2006 he became individual European champion in Izmir and won bronze with the saber team as well as bronze with the team at the world championships in Turin . In 2007 at the European Championships in Ghent he won gold with the team, he also won silver here and in 2008 at the European Championships in Kiev . In 2008 he again took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and finished fourth with the Saber team after a close defeat of 44:45 in the battle for bronze against the Italian team and in individual 21st place. In 2010 in Leipzig , 2011 in Sheffield and 2012 in Legnano , he was each individual European champion. He was also team world champion in 2010 and 2011 . In 2012 he took part again in the Olympic Games in London and finished fourth with the Saber team after a defeat in the battle for bronze against the Italian team and ninth in the individual.

In 2013 he won silver at the European Championships in Zagreb , and at the World Cup he was again team world champion. 2014 he was in Strasbourg again Single European champion , silver with the team. At the 2014 World Cup in Kazan , he won bronze in singles. In 2015 he became world champion in singles at the World Championships in Moscow.
