Viktor Alexejewitsch Krowopuskow

Viktor Alexejewitsch Krowopuskow ( Russian Виктор Алексеевич Кровопусков ; born September 29, 1948 in Moscow ) is a former Soviet saber - fencer . He won gold four times at the Olympic Games : twice in singles, twice with the saber team.

Career

Viktor Krovopuskov began fencing at the age of 13 at the Children's and Youth Sports School in Moscow , where he was initially trained by Igor Chernyshev . Between 1973 and 1986 he was part of the Soviet national team. At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , Krowopuskow won gold medals in singles and with the saber team. Four years later, at the 1980 Summer Olympics in his hometown of Moscow, he was able to defend both Olympic victories.

He won seven world titles: 1974 in Grenoble , 1975 in Budapest , 1979 in Melbourne , 1983 in Vienna and 1985 in Barcelona with the saber team, as well as in 1978 in Hamburg and 1982 in Rome individually. In 1976 Krowopuskov was awarded the Order of the Red Labor Banner , in 1980 the Order of Lenin .
