Mario Tullio Montano
Mario Tullio Montano (born February 7, 1944 in Montecatini Terme , † July 27, 2017 in Livorno ) was an Italian saber fencer , Olympic champion and two-time world champion.
Life
He came from a large fencing family, with one exception all saber fencers. His uncle was Aldo Montano (silver medal Olympics 1936 and 1948 , world champion 1938 ), his cousin Mario Aldo Montano ( Olympic champion 1972 and silver medal 1976 and 1980 , world champion 1973 and 1974 ). His brothers are Carlo Montano (silver medal Olympia 1976 in foil) and Tommaso Montano (silver medal Olympia 1976 ), his nephew is Aldo Montano ( Olympic champion 2004 , world champion 2011 ).
successes
Montano won bronze with the team at the World Championships in 1971 in Vienna , at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich he won gold with the team. 1973 in Gothenburg and 1974 in Grenoble at the world championships it was bronze with the team. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he won silver with the team. In 1978 in Hamburg at the world championships he won bronze, in 1979 in Melbourne silver with the team.
