Péter Tóth (born July 12, 1882 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † February 28, 1967 there ) was a Hungarian fencer .
Life
Péter Tóth took part in the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens and in three Olympic Games . In Athens he won the bronze medal on three hits in the saber competition. At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 , he was eliminated from the preliminary round with the sword, while he finished fifth with the saber. With the saber team he became Olympic champion . In 1912 in Stockholm he reached sixth place with the saber. In the team competition, he repeated the success of 1908 with another Olympic victory. In his third games in 1928 in Amsterdam , he finished fifth with the foil team.
Nationally, Tóth won a total of 17 titles with the foil and the saber between 1907 and 1934. He was a co-founder of the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime . He died in Budapest in 1967 when he was run over by a truck .
