Tamás Mendelényi
Tamás Mendelényi (born May 2, 1936 in Budapest ; † September 6, 1999 in Várgesztes ) was a Hungarian saber fencer , Olympic champion and two-time world champion. His wife was the Hungarian foil fencer and Olympic champion from 1964 Judit Ágoston-Mendelényi .
successes
In 1957 Tamás Mendelényi became team world champion in Paris and won bronze in the saber singles. in Philadelphia he was again team world champion in 1958 . In 1959 he reached silver both individually and with the team at the World Championships in Budapest . At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Mendelényi won gold with the Hungarian saber team. With the team he won bronze at the 1961 World Championships in Turin and silver at the 1962 World Championships in Buenos Aires.
