The Schöne Aussicht colliery is a former hard coal mine in Witten -Wartenberg. The mine was in the area of today's Wetterstrasse. The mine mouth hole was located 300 meters south of the Bergmann colliery . The mine has been shut down and put back into operation several times during its 80-year history.

Mining history

On May 24, 1840, the suspicion was lodged. On November 28, 1846, a length field for mining in the seam Neuflöz was awarded . After the award ceremony, a tunnel was started to be excavated . In the years before 1886 the mine was probably operated on an insignificant scale. After that, the mine was put in time limits for a longer period of time . The mine was back in operation in 1892. At this point in time there was a ton-long shaft . The first level was at a depth of 64 meters. Trial operations were carried out in the Prudent seam. In 1893 the mine was temporarily idle. In the following year, the mine was initially dismantled, in the course of 1894 the mine was shut down again and only reopened in 1898. Bad information was obtained the following year. For this reason, operations were stopped on September 1st of the same year. On August 7, 1900, the tunnel was put back into operation. A cross passage was driven to the Schöne Aussicht seam.

In 1901 the mining height above the bottom of the tunnel was 200 meters flat. On February 1st of the following year the mine was closed again. In 1909 the mine was taken over by the Bergmann colliery . After 1912, the Schöne Aussicht colliery was again independent. In 1915 the mine was put back into operation. In 1919 there was a barrel shaft and a tunnel. This year the mine was leased to the Herkules VIII union from Remscheid-Lennep. On May 1st, 1920, the Schöne Aussicht colliery was finally shut down.

Promotion and workforce

The first known production and workforce figures come from the year 1892, in that year 510 tonnes of hard coal were mined with 14 employees . In 1894, 500 tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1898, eleven miners extracted 408 tons of hard coal. In 1901, 2357 tonnes of hard coal were extracted with 21 employees. In 1915, 3793 tons of hard coal were mined, the number of employees was 18. In 1918 the maximum production of the mine was achieved. 3885 tons of hard coal were mined with 32 employees. In 1920 there were still 13 employees on the mine, 647 tons of hard coal were extracted. These are the last known production and workforce figures for the mine.
