Diego Confalonieri (born April 11, 1979 in Milan ) is a former Italian sword fencer .

successes

Diego Confalonieri was vice world champion with the team in Saint Petersburg in 2007 , while he won bronze in the individual. In 2003 in Bourges , 2006 in Izmir , 2008 in Kiev and 2009 in Plovdiv , he also won bronze in the team competition at the European Championships . At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijinghe was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the individual competition and finished in seventh place. He and his team lost to the French team in the semifinals, but prevailed 45:35 in the battle for third place against China . In addition to Confalonieri, Alfredo Rota , Stefano Carozzo and Matteo Tagliariol received the bronze medal.

In 2008 Confalonieri was made a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .
