Vera Sergejewna Iljina ( Russian Вера Сергеевна Ильина ; born February 20, 1974 in Moscow ) is a former Russian diver . She started in artificial jumping from the 1 m and 3 m board and in 3 m synchronized jumping. Until her retirement after the Olympic Games in 2004 , she jumped in synchronized competitions with Julija Pachalina . Iljina is multiple European champion, at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she was Olympic champion.

Ilyina took part in four Olympic Games. The 3-m springboard diving was in 1992 in Barcelona Sixth, 1996 in Atlanta Seventh, 2000 in Sydney again and sixth in 2004 in Athens Fourth. In the 3 m synchronized jumping she won gold in 2000 and silver in 2004.

At the swimming world championships , Iljina won four silver medals, in the 3 m artificial jumping in 1994 in Rome , in the 1 m artificial jumping in 1998 in Perth and in the synchronized jumping in 2001 in Fukuoka and 2003 in Barcelona .

Iljina was even more successful at the European Swimming Championships . Between 1991 and 2004 she won 15 medals, including eight gold. In 1991 she also became the European Junior Champion.
