Pawel Evgenjewitsch Bashkin ( Russian Павел Евгеньевич Башкин , born September 1, 1978 in Astrakhan ) is a former Russian handball player who was mostly used on the right wing .

The 1.87 m tall and 86 kg heavy left-hander began his career in his hometown at Dinamo Astrakhan , with whom he was runner-up in the Russian Super League seven times . In the PHL league of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine he was champion in 2002 and 2005 and cup winner in 2006. Internationally he reached u. a. the semi-finals in the EHF Cup 2003/04 and 2004/05. In the 2002/03 EHF Cup final, he lost to FC Barcelona . In 2006 he left his home country and moved to the Slovenian RK Gorenje Velenje , with whom he played in the 2006/07 European Cup Winners' Cup and the 2007/08 EHF Champions League . He then went to the Spanish league ASOBAL to Naturhouse La Rioja , with whom he reached the semi-finals in the EHF Cup 2009/10 . In 2010 he signed with the Belarusian club Brest GK Meschkow . There he won the cup in 2011 and qualified for the European Cup, in which he reached the quarter-finals again.

With the Russian national team Pavel Bashkin took part in the 2004 European Championship and finished fifth. He won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games , but was not used in the tournament. Bashkin played 19 international matches in which he scored 46 goals.
