Shakhtyor is a post-metal and sludge band from Hamburg .

history

The band was formed in 2009. Her name is the English transcription of the Russian Шахтёр Shakhtar , German 'miner' . The group has been performing regularly since 2011, before the self-released debut album followed in April 2012. The album was re-released in 2013 in the US on Metal Blade Records and in Europe on Cyclone Empire .

style

According to Bastian Voigtländer from metal.de, the band played a mixture of instrumental Doom Metal, Post-Metal and Sludge on their debut album. In addition, a slight stoner rock influence can be heard. On the album you can hear "heavy riffs " and "rumbling drums". According to Petra Schurer from Metal Hammer , the group on the album is somewhere between stoner rock and drone doom .
