Svetlana Vladimirovna Bogdanova ( Russian Светлана Владимировна Богданова ; born  July 12, 1964 in Sverdlovsk , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet and Russian handball player .

Career

Bogdanova played in the 1980s for the team at the Urals State Technical University in Sverdlovsk .

In 1990 Bogdanova became world champion with the Soviet team by beating Yugoslavia 24:22 in the final.

At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 Bogdanova finished third with the United Team of the Commonwealth of Independent States from the former Soviet republics.

In 1996 Bogdanowa went to Spain, where she won the EHF Champions League and the EHF Champions Trophy in 1997 with the club Milar L'Eliana . With the El Ferrobus Mislata club , she won the EHF Cup in 2000 .

In 2001, Bogdanova received the invitation to become a goalkeeper for the Russian national women's handball team . She became world champion again, this time with the Russian team after a 30:25 win in the final against Norway.

In 2006 the best handball player from Ekaterinburg ended her sporting career.
