Olga Valerjewna Danilowa ( Russian Ольга Валерьевна Данилова ; born October 6, 1970 in Bugulma ) is a former Russian cross-country skier .

Career

As a junior runner, Danilova won gold in the Soviet 4x5 kilometer relay at the Junior World Championships in 1989 in Vang, Norway, together with Inessa Jarkowa , Natalja Sajewa Jelena Grenros and also the bronze medal in the individual race over 5 kilometers. In the following year she was able to win a gold and a bronze medal in the individual at the Junior World Championships in 1990 in Les Saisies, France , and again became the Soviet team's world champion in the relay competition, this time together with Olga Kosmatschewa , Irina Pridannikova and Valentina Smirnova . At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , she won three medals: gold in the 15 km run and with the relay, and silver in the pursuit. She won another four gold medals at world championships with the Russian relay team, plus four silver and three bronze medals in individual races.

Danilowa won the gold medal in the pursuit race and the silver medal over 10 km at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . However, the use of darbepoetin could be proven in the doping control . After being condemned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in December 2003 the medals were you in February 2004 by the IOC stripped . Because of these incidents, she was punished in 2002 with a two-year ban on competitions, after which she did not compete again.
