Larissa Evgenjewna Lasutina ( Russian Лариса Евгеньевна Лазутина ; born June 1, 1965 in Kondopoga ; birth name Ptitsyna ) is a former Russian cross-country skier . At the beginning of her career she started for the Soviet Union , in 1992 under the colors of the CIS , then for Russia.

Career

Lasutina won gold at the 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville with the 4x5-kilometer cross-country relay. She was able to repeat this triumph in 1994 at the games in Lillehammer . She celebrated her greatest successes at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano , when she won gold over 5 km classic, in the 10 km pursuit race and with the Russian relay and also took silver over 15 km classic and bronze over 30 km in free technique.

Lasutina won a total of 14 medals at world championships between 1987 and 2001: eleven gold, one silver and two bronze medals. She won five of her gold medals with the relay. In the 1989/1990 and 1997/1998 seasons, she won the overall World Cup . In addition, she won 22 world cup races. In 1998 she was named Europe's Sportswoman of the Year , Hero of the Russian Federation and the Holmenkollen Medal .

At the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , she became the most successful cross-country skier ever, until the gold medal over 30 km and the silver medal over 15 km and in the 10 km pursuit race were revoked again because of doping .
