Marjut Rolig-Lukkarinen ran her first World Cup race in December 1990 in Tauplitzalm and finished eighth. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , she achieved ninth place over 10 km freestyle and over 15 km classic, sixth place over 5 km classic and fourth place with the relay. In the 1991/92 season she achieved her first World Cup podiums in Kavgolovo with second place over 15 km classic. At the competitions of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , which were also part of the World Cup, she won the silver medal over 15 km classic and the gold medal over 5 km classic. At the following World Cup in Lahti , she was third over 30 km classic. She finished the season in fourth place. The following year she won the bronze medal over 15 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . Her best results at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer were eighth place over 30 km classic and fourth place with the relay. After the 1993/94 season, she ended her career.
