Klawdija Sergejewna Bojarskich ( Russian Клавдия Сергеевна Боярских ; born November 11, 1939 in Verkhnyaya Pyshma , Sverdlovsk Oblast ; † December 12, 2009 in Yekaterinburg ) was a cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union in the 1960s .

Career

Boyarskich dominated the cross-country skiing competitions at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , when she won the gold medal over both 5 km and 10 km and with the relay. In addition, she won the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay in 1964 and took second place over 10 km. The following year she won the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 10 km. In 1966 she won three other medals at the World Championships in Oslo , including the gold over 10 km and with the relay and the silver over 5 km. The following year she triumphed again at the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay and also achieved second place in the 10 km run. At the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 1967 she triumphed over 5 km. At the Soviet championships Boyarskich won three times over 5 km (1964, 1966, 1967), twice with the relay (1964, 1967) and once over 10 km (1966).

Immediately after the IOC decided to introduce gender controls in 1967, Boyarskich announced her resignation, which gave rise to much speculation.
