Vida Vencienė (born May 21, 1961 in Ukmergė , nee Mogenytė) is a former Lithuanian cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union in the 1980s and later for Lithuania.

Career

Vencienė ran her first World Cup race in December 1985 in Bibawik and took fifth place over 10 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , she achieved 13th place over 10 km classic. In the 1987/88 season she achieved her first podium finish in the World Cup in Saint Petersburg with second place over 10 km classic. At the competitions of the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , which were also part of the World Cup, she won the gold medal over 10 kilometers classic and the bronze medal over 5 kilometers classic. She finished the season in fifth place in the overall World Cup. The following year she came in tenth place over 10 km classic and seventh place over 30 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . Her best result at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville was 11th place over 15 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 , she finished 28th over 30 km freestyle and in the 15 km pursuit race, 24th place over 15 km classic and 20th place over 5 km classic. In her last season she reached the 32nd place over 15 km freestyle and 25th place over 30 km classic at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
