Ebba Andersson (born July 10, 1997 ) is a Swedish cross-country skier who used to be active in long-distance and cross-country skiing.

Career

Andersson made her debut in the Scandinavian Cup in Piteå in January 2014 , where she finished 23rd in classical technique over 10 km. Her next outing was a year later in the 10 km freestyle in Falun , in which she was tenth. In February 2015 Andersson took part in the Junior World Championships in Almaty , where she finished eighth in the 5 km freestyle and won the bronze medal in the skiathlon . With the Swedish relay she also reached fourth place. A week later, Andersson made her debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in Östersund , where she came 16th in the 10 km freestyle and thus reached the points .

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she started in Vuokatti in the Scandinavian Cup and achieved her first podium with third place over 10 km freestyle. In January 2016, second places followed in the 10 km freestyle and 10 km classic at the Scandinavian Cup in Östersund. In the same month she was at the Swedish championships in Piteå third over 10 km classic and second in the skiathlon. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , she won the 10 km freestyle and the gold medal with the relay.

At the beginning of the 2016/17 season she won third place in the 15 km mass start race and second place over 5 km freestyle at the Scandinavian Cup in Lillehammer . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2017 in Soldier Hollow , she won the silver medal in the skiathlon and the gold medal in the 5 km freestyle. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she won the silver medal with the relay. In addition, she finished 22nd in the skiathlon and 17th in the 30 km mass start race. In March 2017 she became Swedish junior champion over 5 km classic and in the 15 km mass start race in Kalix . In the same month she won second place over 30 km freestyle at the Swedish championships in Umeå .

In the 2017/18 season, Andersson took third place in the Scandinavian Cup in Piteå over 10 km freestyle and in the 20 km mass start race and tenth place in the World Cup final in Falun . At the highlight of the season, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she narrowly missed a medal in fourth place in the skiathlon after the Finnish Krista Pärmäkoski was 0.8 seconds ahead in the battle for the bronze medal. With the relay, however, she then won the silver medal, in her operations over 10 km freestyle and in the 30 km mass start race she was thirteenth. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season she achieved her first podium finish in the World Cup in Ruka with third place over 10 km. At the Lillehammer Triple, she took third place in the pursuit and second place over 10 km freestyle, second place. In January 2019 she was second in the 10 km classic in Otepää and third in the 10 km freestyle and second in the relay in Ulricehamn . She also became Swedish champion over 10 km classic and in the 15 km mass start race in Sundsvall . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she won the gold medal with the relay. In addition, she ran there on the 16th place over 10 km classic and on the sixth place in the 30 km mass start race. In March 2019 she took third place in the 30 km mass start race in Oslo and second place in the 10 km freestyle in Falun. At the World Cup final in Québec she came in fifth place. She reached third place in the pursuit race and finally seventh place in the overall World Cup and fifth place in the Distance World Cup. At the end of March 2019 she became Swedish champion over 30 km freestyle in Gällivare .

In the 2019/20 season, Andersson achieved second and two third places and fourth place on the ski tour in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 , which she ended early. In addition, she came second in Falun in the 10 km mass start race and in Lahti over 10 km classic and third in Oslo . At the U23 World Championships 2020 in Oberwiesenthal , she won the classic 10 km and the gold medal in the 15 km mass start race. She finished the season in seventh place in the overall World Cup and in third place in the Distance World Cup.

In her junior years , Andersson was also active as a long-distance runner . For example, she is multiple Swedish youth champion on the track and in cross-country running and was able to win her age group four times at the Lidingöloppet from 2011 to 2015. In 2015 she mastered the 10 km long cross course in 35:46 minutes. Internationally, Andersson started at the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade in 2013 and, as a 16-year-old, finished twelfth in the U20 age group. With this achievement she also contributed to silver in the team standings. In 2013 and 2014 she competed at Ungdomsfinnkampen , an offshoot of the Swedish-Finnish international competition Finnkampen for 16- and 17-year-olds, and was able to win the 3000-meter run in both years. In 2015 she started again over 3000 m at the U20 European Championships in her home country, where she finished sixth in Alina Reh's victory in a personal best of 9: 29.98 minutes.

In 2016 she announced that she wanted to concentrate on her career in cross-country skiing in the future.
