Alewtina Pawlowna Koltschina ( Russian Алевтина Павловна Колчина ; born in Leontjewa; born February 11, 1930 in Pavlovsky , Perm Oblast ) is a former Russian cross-country skier . She was one of the best cross-country skiers in the 1950s and 1960s. In her career she was able to win five Olympic medals.

Career

Kolchina first appeared internationally at the 1954 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . There she was fifth over 10 km. At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, she won the silver medal with the Soviet relay. In addition, she achieved fourth place over 10 km there. Two years later she won the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 over 10 km and the gold medal with the relay. At the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , she came fourth over 10 km. From 1961 to 1963 she won the 10 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival three times in a row and was honored with the Holmenkollen Medal in 1963 . In 1961, she took third place over 10 km at the Lahti Ski Games . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 1962 , she won the gold medal over 5 km, over 10 km and with the relay. In the same year she won the Svenska Skidspelen over 10 km and won second place there with the relay. The following year, she won the 10K run at the Lahti Ski Games for the first time. At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , she won the bronze medal over 5 km and the gold medal with the relay. She also took seventh place over 10 km. In the same year she won the Svenska Skidspelen in Kiruna over 10 km and with the relay. In March 1965, like two years earlier, she won the 10 km run at the Lahti Ski Games. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , she won the silver medal with the relay and the gold medal over 5 km and 10 km respectively. In 1967, she won the Svenska Skidspelen in Kiruna with the relay and took third place over 10 km. She had her last international success at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . There she won the bronze medal over 5 km and with the relay. In addition, she came in seventh place over 10 km.

Kolchina was Soviet champion 13 times, five times over 5 km (1956, 1958, 1960, 1962, 1963), five times over 10 km (1959, 1962–1964, 1967) and three times with the relay (1956, 1960, 1963) . She was married to the cross-country skier Pavel Kolchin . Their son is the former Nordic combined skier Fyodor Koltschin .
