At the beginning of her sports career, Neumannová was also active as a mountain biker . She finished third at the 1995 European Championships and took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , where she came in 18th. After that, she concentrated entirely on cross-country skiing.

Neumannová, who had already won silver over 5 kilometers at the Junior World Championships in Reit im Winkl in 1991 , won bronze over 15 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 , silver over 5 km classic and bronze in the 10 km pursuit at the 1998 Winter Olympics , at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1999 bronze over 5 km classic and at the Olympic Winter Games 2002 silver over 15 km freestyle and in the pursuit. After a baby break (her daughter Lucie was born on July 2, 2003), she won gold in the 10 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 .

At the 2006 Winter Olympics , she won the silver medal in the pursuit race over 15 kilometers and the gold medal over 30 kilometers in Pragelato . Another gold medal was added at the 2007 Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo when she won the 10 km freestyle race. There was also the silver medal in the 15 km pursuit race.

She won 18 races in the cross-country skiing world cup. However, it was never enough to win the overall World Cup, in 2002 and 2005 she finished second. Neumannová was voted Czech Sportswoman of the Year in 2006. After the 2006/07 season she ended her career. For the 2009 World Cup in Liberec , she was appointed honorary vice-president in 2006, and since August 2007 she has been the head of the organizing committee.
