The Tour de Ski 2006/07 was a stage race organized as part of the 2006/07 Cross-Country World Cup . It was originally planned from December 29, 2006 to January 7, 2007 in five different locations in three countries. After the cancellation of the first venue, Nové Město na Moravě in the Czech Republic due to inconsistent weather conditions, the competition had to be shortened. The competition started on December 31st in Munich .

Changes

Due to the cancellation of the first two races in Nové Město na Moravě, there was less prize money overall. The overall winners now each received 112,500 Swiss francs. A total of 750,000 Swiss francs in prize money was distributed. The award of points for the overall classification remained unaffected by the cancellation of the race. The winner continued to receive 400 points for the World Cup. The participants placed after that also received four times the number of points compared to an individual race.

The final race with a handicap start for the men was shortened to 11 km.

Attendees

60 women and 88 men from 22 nations took part in the Tour de Ski.

In the second race, only 59 women started, but they all crossed the finish line. In the men’s race, 6 participants did not start. Only 76 made it to the finish line. Among those who did not finish the race was Johannes Bredl (best German the day before), the winner and third-placed from Munich.

The classic 15 km race was contested by 55 women and 74 men. All participants came to the finish. From a German point of view, Axel Teichmann no longer competed.

Nové Město na Moravě :

• December 29th: prologue, classic, individual start, 3 km (women) and 4.5 km (men).
• December 30th: pursuit *, free technique , handicap start *, 10 km (women) and 15 km (men).

The races on December 29th and December 30th were canceled without replacement due to lack of snow. The Tour de Ski premiered in Munich .

Munich :

• December 31: Sprint, free technique, 1.0 km (women) and 1.2 km (men).
• January 1st: day off

Oberstdorf :

• January 2nd: double pursuit, classic + free technique, ski duathlon 5 + 5 km (women) and 10 + 10 km (men).
• January 3: Endurance race, classic, individual start, 10 km (women) and 15 km (men).
• January 4th: rest day

Asiago :

• January 5th: Sprint, free technique, 1.0 km (women) and 1.2 km (men).

Val di Fiemme : in Cavalese

• January 6, 2007: Endurance race, classic, mass start, 15 km (women) and 30 km (men).
• January 7, 2007: pursuit *, free technique, handicap start *, 10 km (women) and 15 km (men), mountain stage.

(*) Handicap start: This race was started in the order of the current overall classification, i.e. H. the leader first. The starting distance was the result of the difference in the total times between the starters in all races completed up to that point.
