Stefanie Böhler (born February 27, 1981 in Bad Säckingen ) is a former German cross-country skier . She is a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr .

Career

Stefanie Böhler won silver in the relay at the Junior World Championships in 1999 and 2001 . In 1999 she was also 24th over 15 kilometers in free technique. At the Junior World Championships in 2000 , she finished fourth in the relay, 18th in the sprint and 23rd in classical technique over 15 kilometers. In 2001 she achieved two other top ten placements in addition to the relay medal with ninth place in the sprint and seventh place over 15 kilometers in free technique. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 she was fourth with her teammates, and a year later at the Olympic Games in Turin in 2006 , she won the silver medal in the relay. In March 2006 Böhler was able to secure the title of German champion in the German championships in Balderschwang in the classical music competition. At the 2007 World Cup in Sapporo , she won the silver medal over 4 × 5 km with the German relay team. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she achieved sixth place over 10 kilometers in classic style, in the team sprint she was fourth with Denise Herrmann and won the bronze medal with the relay. For this, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on May 8, 2014 by Federal President Joachim Gauck . In 2014 she became two-time German champion in Oberstdorf, over 15 km freestyle and in the team sprint with Sandra Ringwald. On November 25, 2017, she started the World Cup for the 322nd time and set a new world record.

Stefanie Böhler is a graduate of the ski boarding school in Furtwangen and starts for her home club SC Ibach.

On April 16, 2012, a malignant tumor was discovered in her thyroid, which was then completely removed after two operations.

Her younger sister Barbara Böhler works in alpine winter sports. At the German Championships of the Special Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in January 2013, she won gold in giant slalom and silver in slalom. At the Special Olympics World Games 2013 in Pyeongchang (South Korea) she won the gold medal in the giant slalom.

After eighteen years of competitive sport, Böhler ended her career in March 2019.
