The Tour de Ski 2007/08 is a stage race organized as part of the 2007/08 Cross-Country World Cup . The tour was scheduled to take place between December 28, 2007 and January 6, 2008 at five different locations in three countries. After Oberstdorf was canceled , there were only four venues.

Czech RepublicCzech Republic Nové Město na Moravě :

  • December 28th: ​​prologue, classic, individual start, 3.3 km (women) and 4.5 km (men).

The originally planned staging of the races in Oberstdorf was canceled by the FIS, as the DSV had the races on the 2nd / 3rd. January wanted to move.

  • January 5th: Endurance race, classic, mass start, 10 km (women) and 20 km (men).

(*) Handicap start: This race will start in the order of the current overall classification, i. H. the leader first. The starting distance is the result of the difference in the total times between the starters of all races completed up to then.

The overall ranking is based on the cumulative times of all eight tour stages. In sprint competitions, the qualification time was counted. Furthermore, the bonus seconds were deducted from the end time before this was added to the total time. Bonus seconds were awarded for both sprint stages and distance stages.

For the overall ranking of the Tour de Ski four times the number of points according to the FIS point system were awarded to the best 30 athletes. These points were only counted for the overall World Cup.

Stages

In pursuit competitions with a handicap start, the pure running time was used to determine the stage result, so that the finish line was not identical to the stage result. World Cup points were awarded to the best 15 participants at each stage. These points went into both the overall World Cup ranking and the discipline rankings.

In the women's race, all 54 participants reached the finish, because the time limit was exceeded, the last placed was taken out of the race. Of the 76 registered participants in the men's race, 75 started and reached the finish.

The top three finishers in both races received time credits of 15, 10 and 5 seconds.

Nové Město na Moravě (persecution)

In the women's race, last year's runner-up Marit Bjørgen crossed the finish line first and was therefore able to take the lead in the overall standings. The stage classification was won by Charlotte Kalla . In front of his home crowd, Lukáš Bauer extended his lead in the overall standings. However, he was beaten in the daily standings by Frenchman Emmanuel Jonnier , who completed the distance 10 seconds faster. All 53 starters and 75 starters respectively reached the finish.

Prague (Sprint)

In the sprint race in downtown Prague, the time that was counted towards the overall ranking was determined in qualifying races among the 53 and 72 remaining participants. The 30 best in each case qualified for the next round, in which time bonuses were fought. In the women's race, Arianna Follis won the final and secured 60 bonus seconds; Marit Bjørgen maintained the lead in the overall standings with her third place. Last year's third Simen Østensen took the lead in the overall standings with his second place behind Nikolai Morilow .

The women's race was won by Charlotte Kalla , who also took the lead in the overall standings. In the men's category, the Italian Pietro Piller Cottrer secured the victory of the day ahead of his compatriot Valerio Checchi . Lukáš Bauer regained the top position in the overall standings. 51 runners and 68 runners took part in the race.

Asiago (sprint)

Virpi Kuitunen was able to defend her lead in the tour standings with eleventh place in the sprint in Asiago. Charlotte Kalla was able to work her way up to second place with her victory. Lukáš Bauer was able to maintain his lead among the men despite a 43rd place. The day's victory went to Petter Northug , who secured victory in the sprint classification of the Tour de Ski.

Val di Fiemme (endurance race)

With her second stage win and 45 bonus seconds, Virpi Kuitunen extended her lead over second-placed Charlotte Kalla to 40 seconds before the last stage. Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset won the men's competition in the photo finish in front of his compatriot Jens Arne Svartedal . Lukáš Bauer maintained his lead and started the last stage with a lead of almost two minutes over Tord Asle Gjerdalen .

Val di Fiemme (mountain pursuit)

Virpi Kuitunen managed to extend her lead to 55 seconds at the start of the race. In the climb, however, she lost a minute and a half to Charlotte Kalla , who with the ninth fastest time could confidently celebrate her first victory at the Tour de Ski. Arianna Follis completed the podium in third place. The fastest runner of the day was by a large margin Walentyna Shevchenko , who was able to work her way up from twelfth to fourth. The Russian Olga Rotschewa , who entered the race as third , dropped to fifth place. Claudia Nystad was able to improve from eighth to sixth place with the third-best time of the day.

Lukáš Bauer was able to celebrate the expected sovereign triumph for the men . Almost three minutes after Bauer crossed the finish line, René Sommerfeldt , who started ninth and won the day's standings with a strong performance, won the sprint to the finish against Giorgio Di Centa .
