Sabina Valbusa (born January 21, 1972 in Verona ) is an Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Valbusa made her debut in the World Cup on December 12, 1992 in Ramsau am Dachstein . At the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994 , Valbusa reached 26th place over 15 km. On December 14, 1996 she was able to run in Brusson with the 6th place over 15 km for the first time among the top ten. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , Valbusa reached 29th place in the sprint over 5 km and 17th place in the pursuit. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Lahti , Valbusa just missed the medal ranks in the sprint over 1 km with 4th place. She was tenth over the 10 km and 18th place in the 15 km race. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , Valbusa also competed in sprint and distance competitions for the first time at the Olympic Games. She finished 17th in the sprint and 10th in the 15 km race. She finished ninth in the Pursuit and finished sixth in the season.

In March 2004 Valbusa won her first and so far only individual World Cup at the end of the season over 15 km freestyle in Pragelato .

She won medals only in 4 × 5 km relay races and this four times. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau in 1999 she won silver, in 2001 in Lahti and in 2005 in Obersdorf, bronze. She also came third in the relay race at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . In addition, she was there over 30 km in the end tenth and reached 17th place in the pursuit.

Sabina Valbusa is the sister of the equally successful cross-country skier Fulvio Valbusa .
